The stimulus for our first philosophical enquiry was the picture book 'Elmer', by David McKee. The children came up with really interesting themes after reading the story, such as; friendship, difference, fitting in and being unique. We had a really thought provoking and interesing conversation about being different and trying to fit in with others. We shared reasons why we might want to fit in and also celebrated our differences and spoke about uniqueness being such a positive and lovely quality of ours. I was so impressed with how considerate and mature the children were- we even shared our views and ideas with the Year 3 children!
