Paul Davies - Chair of Governors

Co-opted Governor

Chair of Governors, Chair of Standards and Quality Committee, Chair of Performance and Pay Committee, Lead Governor for Governor Training and Development

I was born in Kirkby and went to local primary and secondary schools. After gaining a degree in History from the University of Manchester, I trained to become a teacher. I taught both in secondary and primary schools in Merseyside and in Arizona (USA) in the 1970s and 1980s. I left teaching to become a local authority school adviser and Ofsted inspector in the 1990s. I began to work at Liverpool Hope University at the same time and eventually became Vice Dean of Education in 2002. I subsequently left Liverpool to become the Head of Education and Associate Dean at the University of Bedfordshire in 2006. I was a Local Authority Adviser to School Governance in the East Midlands from 2013 to 2017 but left that post to become a freelance education consultant specialising in the development of governance and teacher training.
I have been a governor for over 25 years. During this time, I have been a governor in 6 schools which includes being chair of governors of 3 primary schools and chairing a trust of 8 schools.

I first came to Lander Road as a consultant in 1994 and subsequently joined the governing body from 1995 to 2006. I was very pleased to be able to return as a governor to Lander Road in 2013. Lander is a special school and I really enjoy being part of it. Lander has a great community of children, parents and carers, staff and governors. We all want the best for the children and to provide opportunities for every child to reach their potential.

If you need to contact the Chair of Governors or another member of the Governing Body, please do so through the school office by popping into reception or calling 0151 922 5760.
