This week in Maths we have continued to find the difference between numbers. In class we have talked about how finding the difference means to subtract. We know that when we use column subtraction we sometimes have to regroup and rename from the next highest place value ( remember in class we used our number discs to help us do this). The homework sheet is due on the 25th of October, if you have any problems this video should help you remember the method, if not ask in class to get some help. Good luck everyone.
Column Subtraction using regrouping and renaming
This week we have been looking at finding the difference between numbers. We know that finding the difference means subtracting in Maths. Sometimes, when we use column subtraction we have to regroup and rename from the next highest value (think about what we did with our base ten equipment, what did we change?) Page 10 is due in on Friday 18th October, if you get stuck have a little look at this video to help you. Any problems let me know...good luck everyone!
Rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000
This week, Sycamore class have been working hard to round numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. The children have been using number lines and mental strategies to decide whether to round a number up or down. Remember everyone, 5 and above give it a shove, 4 and below, keep it down low! The children have a small sheet to complete for next Friday 4th October. If anybody is a little stuck watch our video to remind yourselves, if you still need some help let me know. Good luck everybody :)
