My whole career has been in education. When I was at school all I wanted to do was be a teacher so as soon as I left school I studied for a degree, trained and started a career as a teacher of English in Secondary schools in Liverpool and Knowsley. Eventually I became Head of an English department and in this role started to work closely with our feeder Primary schools. I came out of the classroom to act as an Advisory Teacher in Knowsley , working with both Primary and Secondary schools on aspects of English in the National Curriculum.
After a number of years I left Knowsley, and the advisory role, to take a post at Liverpool Hope University in the Education department working with Primary and Secondary trainee teachers on B.Ed and Postgraduate courses. It was during this time that I became aware of Lander Road as a school that took trainee teachers on placements and gave them a wonderful training experience. In 2008 I retired from Hope but continue to work in Teacher Education with the Merseyside, Cheshire and Greater Manchester Teacher Training Consortium.
