Supertato by Sue Hendra
Children in Nursery have been exploring Supertato by Sue Hendra.

They have enjoyed making their own superhero vegetables, painting pictures and dressing as superheroes. The children also froze some vegetables, tied them up and thought of ways they could to set them free. They used tweezers to count frozen peas and made delicious vegetable soup.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle
Children in Nursery spent two weeks based on the story, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.

Activities included sequencing the story, role playing with story props and creative activities such making caterpillar and butterfly models.

To end the topic we invited parents into our reading cafe where we made fruit kebabs using fruits from the story, sang songs and read lots of other stories by the author Eric Carle. It was a big success!

The Book People Big Red Bus
We had a very exciting day when The Book People's Big Red Bus pulled up on our school car park! Parents had the opportunity to go on the bus and purchase books before and after school and each class had time on board the bus to look at the amazing array of books on offer. Many children brought money to school and were delighted with the books they bought. We were lucky to benefit from a percentage of the sales to  use against buying even more wonderful new books for our school!
The Big Red Bus comes to Lander Road
Once again we are lucky enough to be working with Beanstalk, a national reading charity this year. Beanstalk volunteers will be coming to school twice a week to listen to selected children read, and to discuss their favourite books. We will be launching our link with Beanstalk in January with an extra special Star Books afternoon! Keep checking back for photos and updates!
