School Visits and Curriculum Enrichment

We offer a wide range of enrichment activities at Lander Road Primary School. These include a comprehensive programme of visits and a range of visitors coming into school from a variety of backgrounds. These activities support our teaching of the National Curriculum and our wider school curriculum, as well as promoting the overall aims of the school, including British Values and Equality and Diversity.

 

Autumn Term Enrichment Activities 2017 include:

 

  • Islam awareness workshops (staff, parents and pupils)
  • Enterprise day and visit
  • Watersports day at CLAC (Y6, Police scrambler bike initiative)
  • Attendance reward visit – Gulliver’s World
  • JustDifferent – disability awareness workshops
  • HMRC workshops looking at taxes, why we have them, what they are used for etc.
  • African Mask making workshops – as part of Black History Month
  • Victorian childhood workshop
  • Y1 Pantomime visit (Unity Theatre)
  • Performance of Aladdin (Y2 to Y6)
  • Cinema visit (Y1 to Y6) as part of National Schools’ Film Week
  • Total Gymnastics (Beth Tweddle) – curriculum sessions for Y4 and 6. Extra-curricular for Y1 and 2. Other year groups to benefit throughout the year
  • After school clubs – art, hockey, multi sports, zumba and football
  • Lunchtime clubs – including, guitar, chess, reading and a Jacqueline Wilson book club (this was been set up and is run by a group of Y6 girls)
  • Crucial Crew (Y5)
  • Move It (Y5)
  • NOW Festival workshops (Y5)
  • Travel Awareness – Merseytravel (Y6)
  • Y2 geography fieldwork around local area
  • Don’t Feed The Trolls (online safety) Y6
